Can someone explain in brief what is "Stewartson Layer" in context to flow in a cylindrical cavity with a rotating endwall.

I read in a paper that at high Reynolds numbers due to centrifugal instability of Stewartson layer Taylor-Gortler vortices are formed. So if anyone can throw some light on this, I would be very grateful.

Also please suggest some good paper/literature explaining the basics of centrifugal instability and Stewartson layer in context to flow in a cylindrical cavity.
