Hi,
does anybody know, if the automotive industry use LES calculations (e.g. for aeroacoustic or aerodynamic purposes), yet? I would imagine, that there could be a 'need' in sunroof (buffeting and natural ventilation) and hvac applications!? If there is no use of LES, how 'fundamental' would a PhD in automotive industry will get? I mean, would it be just applied CFD or is there a chance to get a little bit deeper into turbulence? A lot of question ... maybe someone has an idea or hints, like any papers or more information on the web. Regards! fab |

IMHO, whoever wants to apply LES has to go a little deeper into turbulence. However the main interest of automotive industry is to develop cars and not turbulence models.

Hi,
thanks, but would their be a chance to do any LES calculations in those mentioned fields? What are the most fundamental topics they deal with in the automotive industry today? fab |
