viscosity of mixtures

I'm programming a CFD-code for simulating the mixture of two miscible fluids, namely glycerine and water. The pure fluids have quite different kinematic viscosities, so what's the viscosity of the mixture depending on the concentrations?

First of all, check literature. Try for instance the book "Glycerol" from A.A. Newman, published in 1968. Lots of properties are given as function of water concentration. Very useful. I have done calculations with CFX 4.2 on mixtures of glycerin and water. Glycerin was the continuous phase in which water was represented as a scalar. Viscosity, heat capacity and other properties depended on the scalar concentration. I used User-fortran routines. Interested? Just send an e-mail Gert-Jan van der Gulik |

If the flow is turbulent, you do not need an accurate viscosity.
