Hi all,
can any one tell me Is there is any difference between the design consideration for centrifugal fan and centrifugal pump? Mangesh |

Dear Mangesh,
I feel the design of the centrifugal pump is strongly influenzed by cavitation considerations while for a fan it is not. Also the tip mach no for centrifugal fans should never be supersonic which my lead to shock losses and loss of efficiency.Since pump handles nearly incomp fluids these things are not taken to consideration |

Dear Mangesh,
i feel that the design method for volute is rather empirical...of course i m not sure about that...i think proper proportions for the volute design is available in pump handbook regards Kasyap T V |
