I am working on water hammer analysis for a 12km long HRT. I have used orifice type surge tank. I am getting water hammer pressure of around 35 bars near the surge tank.

But the maximum water hammer pressure is not reducing much even 6km upstream of the tank.

The static pr. at a point is 134 ft and after anlysis for sudden shut down the max. pr is 450 ft and equilibirium pr. is 300 ft, why euilibirium is not taking place at 134ft head does the results seems realastic to you? What additional can I do in this case?

Please give your valuable comments on this.
