What is a good salary per project for CFD consultant work in 2024?

Hello. I am starting my role in a consultant firm. The salary is paid according to the project size and not fixed: around $500 (1 deliverable case) to $4000 (20 deliverable cases) for the whole project.

I search around and the usual salary is like $500/hr? Is the salary above reasonable or I am getting duped?

Whether you are underpaid or not is impossible to say, as it all depens on
- where you live and do your work (US, Europe, Africa, China, India, Columbia)
- how long a single task takes (1 day, 1 week or 1 month)
- If you have a commercial license fee to pay or not
- If you run on a single CPU on a small laptop or have multiprocessor usage in the cloud.
- if you are an independent consultant or an employee in the firm.
Please give details.

Also, please tell me where you get $500/hr as a CFD Consultant. That is a magnificent fee.
But also in that case it depends on what is included in this fee. If it includes license and cloud computing fees, then this could be possible. As an example, if you are a CFD consultant and have immediate access to ANSYS Fluent on 1024 processors and are as flexible that you can start today, and the customer has an imediate need because a ship is on hold for $1M/day, then it could be acceptable.
It is all about being at the right place at the right time with the right tools.
