Hi all,
This is my first post, and I am writing in order to receive an advice concerning my Phd research proposal.
After my graduation I worked for four years in a fire engineering consultancy where I have applied the performance based design, using FDS and CFAST (these are the only CFD software that I have ever used).
Now I would like to start a phd in Fire Engineering and I am in the phase that I have to do a research proposal. I have talked with the advisor and he proposed me to do a research that involve the use of other softwares as well (in particular he cited ANSYS CFX).
Would you advice me to apply the fire engineering, using Ansys CFX or do you think that Ansys fluent or Openfoam (fireFoam)are better? and Why?

Firefoam is again a good option to do fire simulations.
Further, it depends on your physics considerations for thesis proposal.
