Which software do you intend to use?
OpenFOAM for now, maybe in future other open-source alternatives. Are you limited by license constraints? No licence constraints. What type of simulations do you want to run? I intend to use the workstation for OpenFOAM development, pre/postprocessing, small runs for testing. I work mostly with multiphase solvers (VoF, not reactive) for now. I will have an additional allocation for productivity runs (~100M cell count) outside this budget. If there is a budget, how high is it? 5000 euros for workstation only (no screens) before tax (hence without VAT). What kind of setting are you in? Academic research + Engineering. Where can you source your new computer? Buying a complete package from a large OEM? Assemble it yourself from parts? Are used parts an option? Preferably DELL and new. Used parts are not an option. Which part of the world are you from? Europe. I have being working for about 8 years in this context, but it is the first time I am the one buying the system. Thank you |
