HESHY is on a distinguished road
Hi

Which software do you intend to use?
Are you limited by license constraints? I.e. does your software license only allow you to run on N threads?

Ansys Fluent, OpenFoam and agisoft metashape pro (secondary)

What type of simulations do you want to run? And what's the maximum cell count?

15 million cells, internal and external CFD, as well as 3D reconstruction of aerial imagery

If there is a budget, how high is it?

3000$

What kind of setting are you in? Hobbyist? Student? Academic research? Engineer?

Freelance engineer,

Where can you source your new computer? Buying a complete package from a large OEM? Assemble it yourself from parts?

open to the most feasable option

Are used parts an option?

no, i'd like to get everything new

Which part of the world are you from? It's cool if you don't want to tell, but since prices and availability vary depending on the region, this can sometimes be relevant. Particularly if it's not North America or Europe.
Anything else that people should know to help you better?

USA

Reading the guidanc epost by @flotus1, I came up with these two combinations:

CPU: AMD Epyc 7343
Memory: 8x8GB Ram
Motherboard: AsRock ROMED8U-2T
Storage: Samsung M.2 2TB
GPU: AMD Radeon Pro WX9100 or RTX 4000

Second one:

CPU: AMD Epyc 7413
Memory: 8x8GB Ram
Motherboard: AsRock ROMED8U-2T
Storage: Samsung M.2 2TB

adding a GPU for the second station will bump the price by 400$, but is it worth it?
please share your insights on this build
