Hello Everyone!
I am about the buy a new multi-functional PC. My aim is to use it for both CFD (Ansys Fluent) and video editing and rendering. My budget is limited and a single-core performance is also important to me so I will probably get an i7 13700k. I would like to get 128 GB memory but I was not able to get proper information the difference between DDR4 / DDR5 in my case. I cannot afford a lower than CL 36 DDR5 ram at the moment however I can get CL16 3200 MHz DDR4. Under that circumstance DDR5 is still better? Thank you for your help! |

I think with DDR4 (3200MHz - CL16), your memory read bandwidth will be between 50 to 60 GB per second.
And with DDR5 (CL36), between 80 to 100 GB per second (with more expensive or expensive RAM sticks you can get even 120-130 GB per second). Please see these benchmarks: 13900K + DDR5 - 5600MHz - CL36 13700K + DDR5 - 8000MHz - CL36 Reference: https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/t...86338/page-104 I think DDR5 is the better choice. |

Thank you! I think I will take DDR5 then.
