Hi,
I am new to cluster and have a beginner question. I have a computer with Xeon Silver CPU and want to buy a new computer with Xeon Gold CPU. I wonder if these two computers can be built into a cluster. I heard the cluster nodes should be the same configuration. Is this true? Thanks in advance. |

A heterogeneous cluster can work just fine, especially with all nodes being the same architecture. For example if you do not run jobs spanning across different nodes. Or if you account for the different speed by any form of load balancing.
Otherwise you will be limited by the execution speed of the slower nodes. |
