I would ask the user to the professional that both the Spec 2 below. Machine is suitable for simulating radiator cooling fan with ansys fluent and cfx. Because, I have to use only one specific machine only.
Specifications Dell Precision T5500 1.Xeon E5620 2.40 GHz 4 Core 8 Threads (2 x CPU 8 Cores 16 Threads) 2.Nvidia Quadro FX 4800 1.5 GB 3.ECC RAM 16 GB (4 x 4 Gb) Bus 1333 MHz 4.WD Raptor 500 GB 1000 rpm. Model : WD5000HHTZ 5.Monitor Dell 22" Model : P2210t Specifications Thinkpad W520 1.Core i7 vPro 2820QM 2.3 GHz Turbo 3.40 Ghz 4 Core 8 Thread 2.RAM 16 GB (4 x 4 Gb) Bus 1333 MHz 3.NVIDIA QUADRO 1000M 2GB 4.15.6" Full HD 1920x1080 5.HDD 750 GB 7200 rpm. I would say it depends on how many cores you can run on. The T5500 would be faster if you have the licences to use all 8 cores. But if you are limited to 1-4 cores, the Thinkpad would be faster.
That T5500 is misconfigured though, It should have at least 6 DIMMs as those processors have triple channel memory, but you only have 2 of the slots filled on each CPU, which will hurt performance. |

No, A solver license lets you use 1 core.
If you want to run more than that you have to have an "HPC" license for each core you want to run. So you would need a solver license and 8 HPC licenses to run 8 cores. |
