Advice on technical requirements for the HP Z840 Workstation for numerical Simulation in OpenFOAM.
Hello friends. Anyone of you could help me configure a workstation to make your purchase. I perform simulations with OpenFOAM with Ubuntu Linux operating system. The simulations are oriented flows in rivers. What specifications should I look for? To choose a suitable processor which reduces the computation time, is it necessary to have an Intel® Xeon® E5-2699 v3 (2.3 GHz, 45 MB cache, 18 cores, Intel vPro processor or lowest? Processor type graphics card should I use ?. How much storage memory should have ?. Something else that should be considered? Please any information please write. |

What is the expected mesh count?
What flow physics model are involved in the simulation? |

The number of elements are more than 4 million cells and flow that simulates a free surface flow. Mass transfer and transport of sediments near the spur or groynes was observed. It is a scale model of a meandering river. An LES model or DES was made.
