I am running LES simulations on a decently large mesh and notice that as I continue to save files for post processing, data storage is becoming a bit of a problem. Does anyone know of a way, for example, to get fluent to export data on every other cell, or some varient, in order to reduce the size of the data files? Or even how to save only part of the grid?

I understand I can monitor values and export those at a much lower data consumption rate, but would also like to have the files for processing/animations down the road.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks Amir! I wrote a script that would define several planes and was planning to export the information on these planes. My problem comes in that there are only a few formats in which i can export uder-defined data on user-defined surfaces/points (as opposed to, for example, CGNS which requires the entire domain). The only post processing software I have access to (aside from MATLAB) is CFD post, which as far as I know cannot read in any of the formats (like tecplot) that allow me to choose both surfaces and export variables. Do you have any advice in this instance?

2-import it in MATLAB
