Greetings every one,
I'm using Fluent and OpenFOAM now. The problem is : I'm working on a 3D case with a huge number of cells. I'm doing some POD and I would like to have the data for just a plane. I know how to export the whole data, but the problem is that it's too big to export the data for every point. I would like to be able to select just the point belonging to the plane (around 4000 points). Do you know if I should write a code in fluent or something to do it ?
Thanks in advance for any tips and advise
Antoine

Hi,
you can create your face in fluent and then export desired data of this plane:
file->export
I proposed you to use tecplot format.

Regards,

Amir

Thank you Amir !
I forgot an important detail. I need this almost every time step. And that's actually the problem I have. I can record data for every timestep, but I can't chose the surface, it has to be the whole solid.

I think that in FLUENT 13 you can export anything during unsteady solution but I'm not sure.
about your points, if they don't locate on a surface, you have to create discrete points and because of the large number of points, you have to use a journal file for automation.

Dear all,

I have a similar question, I would like to export the data not only from a plane but from a part of my geometry (it is a T-mixer and I would like the data of the outlet part).
Is there a possibility to define a "block" in FLUENT or should I define a part in ICEM CFD?

Thank you very much!
