Fluent is for solving (newer versions of Fluent also do meshing).
Gambit is for meshing (it doesn't do CAD). It's advertised by Fluent as a pre-processor.
Exceed is a windows software that allows you to run X-applications in Windows OS, basically it allows a Unix-like window application to run on the Windows OX. It's common to use Exceed for applications developed or natively run in Unix that are later ported to windows while keeping the same X server usage.

Basically, you need Exceed to run Gambit on Windows (or another way to run x-applications).

vinerm will become famous soon enough
Windows lacks X-Server component of gui and that is provided by exceed our any other x-server emulators. I slightly disagree with LuckyTran on two things. One, Gambit is CAD and messing combined. Yes, you can use it to start from scratch. Though it will require skill to generate a "very" complicated model. Second, x-server is not required to port applications from Linux to Windows; Fluent is an example. It is required to display graphics of the tools that use x-server components, Gambit is an example, other is desktop of Linux itself or Mac. However, I'd not recommend Gambit. It is more than 10 years old and is much less capable as compared to current tools, primarily because it is 32 bit application. It crashes a lot. If you wish to use ANSYS tools, prefer Spaceclaim and Meshing or DM and messing.

Hi anybody
exceed is used just for Gambit running. in other words if you don't install exceed on your computer, Gambit doesn't work ever!
