Hi Ansys users,

I am simulating steady laminar fluid flow in a 2D axisymmetric model of a PIPE with no slip at the walls. This geometry has some irregulaties like constriction and dilation along the length of the model. Would anyone be kind enough to explain me the difference between imposing translational periodic BC and imposing a fully developed velocity profile at the inlet. Translational periodic BC was imposed by specifying mass flow rate while the fully developed velocity profile was defined by letting the fluid flow in a smooth pipe with irregularities( constrictions or dilations) and writing the profile at the outlet. This profile was later imposed at the inlet of the model under consideration.

Thanks for any input into this thread.

the velocity profile at the inlet was generated by letting the fluid flow in the model with "no" irregularities.
