Volume mesh for Fluent.. Hypermesh or TGrid??

Hello Everyone.
I am trying to do an In-Cylinder combustion of a single cylinder engine. I already have a 3D CATIA model and would like to mesh it. I am thinking of using Hypermesh for doing the surface meshing. I read in some forums that I have to do surface meshing using Hypermesh. Then export this file to TGrid for Volume meshing... Then export it to Fluent for simulation. I would like to know which is the best way to perform a volume mesh? Does Hypermesh give an equally good volume mesh as TGrid? Is there any better way to perform a Volume mesh? Please help me with this problem. Any suggestion will be highly helpful for me. Thanks a lot |

Use Gambit and after that try to convert the mesh in Fluent to polyhedral mesh... but be aware that initial meshing in GAMBIT is important...

I have heard that Gambit is not that good a tool for 3D meshing. Is it right? Some people have suggested me to use Hypermesh over Gambit as it provides a much better user interface and much more powerful tools for 3D meshing. Is it right? |

I've been using hypermesh for generating volume models (tet-mesh) & directly import it to fluent..Hypermesh generates vol mesh automatically without any troubles onces you have created closed 2D model for it to perform the function & also hypermesh has many options to control the generation the tet grid...i found it very convienient.. |
