particle flow in Fluent

Hi,
I want to simulate a particle flow in Fluent and I know that I have to use the discrete phase model, but I didn't figure out where I can detremine the particle size (diameter or radius) and the mass of a single particle or of all particles together. Furthermore I would like to determine the inlet flow profile (e.g. a parabolic profile) for the particles if possible. Can anybody please tell me how I can do this? |

Hey,
doesn't really anybody of you have experience with the simulation of particle flow in FLUENT. I would really be thankful if you could at least tell me anything about the particle flow simulation or how I can apply it. Thanks... |

Concerning particle diameter and mass you can specify eveything from within the injection window.
Your particles will follow the flow, so maybe you will have a parabolic inflow if you have one for your velocity field?

Actually, I don't think this model would be very accurate...
Anyway, Models/Discrete Pahes Model/Interaction with Continuous Phase (click) Then 'Injections...' next to the OK button. 'Create'. On this panel you can choose if you need single point injection or surface etc. You have to define the point/line/surface you want to inject the particles; the material, mass, diameter, flow rate, temperature and the initial velocity. If you want more injections with different materials, you have to add the new material in the 'Materials' panel. |
