David,

I cannot help you with your problem. I just want to advice you that the title you choose for your thread may not attract the expert.

It is better to use something like: Subject - Problem

As an example for your case it may be:
Wave coming from shore - a VOF problem?

Hope this english is correct.

Have a nice day.

You can use Fluent to solve your problem by assuming a VOF wave defined in your own UDF at the far field.

Yes it is possible. You would need to use VOF model (which is supported by Fluent). It is quite computationally demanding, but it is possible.

If I could ask, what is your project, what are you working on?

Best,
Krst
