Dear friends, I'm doing my project work on heat pipe simulation in fluent software. I have written udf for mass and energy source for phase change inside heat pipe. But condensation is not happening in condenser section. If anyone have done this type of problem, please help me.

Thanks

Dear Amar and Rampal,

I have run some simulations with evaporation in a vertical tube and, although I had some problems at the beginning, I've resolved it now totally. I've used Eulerian model with boiling mass transfer mechanism (without udf, with the predefined model from Fluent)
I encourage both of you to read the following paper (PREDICTION OF BOILING AND CRITICAL HEAT FLUX USING AN EULERIAN MULTIPHASE BOILING MODEL) which is related with this type of simulations
adelbaew and rampal like this.

Instead of opening up a new thread I thought I should just put my question right here.

I am trying to model condensing steam flow in a nozzle with variable surface tension. Since I am good with CFX I did my simulations with CFX first and also asked Ansys support for the possibility of changing the surface tension but it is not possible.
My question therefore is if Fluent is capable of handling a variable surface tension - for example variable in regard to the fluid temperature or - more easy - the flow axis. I have never worked with Fluent before but am willing to learn working with it in case it gives me the opportunity to model a variable surface tension.

So if anyone knows if Fluent is capable of what I'm trying to do, please let me know

Thanks, Simon

Dear Awesim, you can do problem simulation with variable surface tension, like surface tension is a function of temperature. For this you have to write UDF. Writing UDF is easy, you can get help from UDF manual. First know how surface tension is varying, then according to that write UDF.

Thanks
