Default Using the discrete ordinates solar load model

I've been trying to apply the DO radiation model to my geometry. I have applied conditions via the solar calculator but i am very confused as to the setup you must give surfaces in order for them to partake in solar irradiation. According to the fluent user manual, all irradiative surfaces should be set to semi transparent but this does not appear to work?

If you have any idea on this then please help me!

Thanks

Gary
