Dear all users,

I want to apply Lorentz force in simulation of weld pool in arc welding and now we want to know is MHD module good way to simulate lorentz force in weld pool??

Thanks and best regards.

Can you help me to find MHD addon-module? I want to simulate natural convection in a annulus and calculate the respective magnetic field generated from this motion of fluid. I dont have MHD module but I want to isntall it. How can I do this??

Thank you.

Dear my friend,

You must read a case in your fluent and then in text commond that is show ">" symbol and you must type "define" and then you must type "models" then type "addon-module" after typing this phrase a list of addon modules appears and you must type "1" and then enter and after that the MHD module will active.

Dear Alireza,

Did you already finished your project regarding weld pool in arc welding?

First load the case and then try to use this command (same as above):
define ---> models--->addon-module
Now you will get the list of five models:
0. none
1. MHD Model
2. Fiber Model
3. Fuel Cell and Electrolysis Model
4. SOFC Model with Unresolved Electrolyte
5. Population Balance Model
Enter Module Number: [1]

See Chapter 4 page 4-1 and 4-2 of this guide:

I don't know why It doesn't appear for me
Instead of that this is appeared
acoustics/ energy? steady?
addon-module multiphase/ unsteady-1st-order?
axisymmetric? radiation/ unsteady-2nd-order?
crevice-model? solidification-melting? viscous/
dpm/ solver/

Hi people!

This is my first time in CFD Online! I hope everything is fine with you!

Well, I have a problem and I need your help to solve it.

Despite I'm quite new in working with Fluent, a colleague ask me to simulate the flow of particles with magnetic properties in a tube with circular section that has the shape of an arc.

However, the particles are subjected to a magnetic field in a specific area.

I have to simulate this case and study the influence in the pathlines of the particles.

What is the best method that you suggest? I was trying to use a MHD-DPM interaction but I can't define the magnetic properties of the particles.

Can you help me please?

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

FCS

Hi

In Mhd Panel you are able to apply a radial Magnetic field to fluid
If you had any question feel free

Good luck

Payam89, thank you for your answer. Can you please try to help me with my application?

Well, I continue with some problems using MHD module.

I built an arc-tube and near the wall, I've also built a box that I want it to be my magnet, generator of the magnetic field.

I have a group of particles (DPM) flowing in water (approximate density) and I have defined a specific magnetic permeability to them (1.5e-06). Then, I have applied the Magnetic Field to the magnet; I defined the boundary conditions: thin wall of glass to the tube wall and insulating wall to the magnet wall).

Then I initialize de DPM and the MHD, and I run just one more iteration (my flow is converged) to assume the properties of the magnetic field.

The problem is when I try to observe the changes in Particle Tracks, nothing changes between before and after the MHD application.

Do you know what am I doing wrong?

(The magnetic permeability used for the water is very close to the one of the particles)

Thank you in advance,

FCS

First of all enhance the permeability of the particle to make sure that it's not because of permeability.

then you have to do the mhd setting at the end of the all setting in you modelI mean exactly beforethe iterration

could you email me to have a closer contact...I have a question of you project

good luck
