HOW TO GIVE BODY HEAT GENERATION TERM

I am doing simulation for room air distribution problem for my academic degree purpose. I want to incorporate body heat generation [occupant in this case] inside the flow domain that is the room. I am separating the body portion from the room and generating the mesh for the remaining geometry, thus GAMBIT accepts it as default FLUID continuum. What I have to do to incorporate body heat generation [not wall heat generation]for body inside the flow domain.
I need its solution in URGENT. I will thankful to you for the help. |

You will need to model the body as a solid continuum. Mesh the body portion and import it into FLUENT as well, where you will have multiple domains, one Flid domain and one solid domain. In the Define>Boundary Condition choose the solid, ensure that you have checked the source term option, and then you can specify the volumetric heat generation rate in the source term tab.

Thank you very much Zongtwi. You mean to say that room portion excluding the body will be FLUID CONTINUUM and the body will be SOLID CONTINUUM.For that I have to spit the volume, not substract it.Is it correct. And whether FLUENT solves two CONTINUUM simultaneously for corrrect solution. Hope you will reply. Thanking you again.

Splitting the body is correct, do not substract. Specify both the fluid continuum and solid continuum and export to FLUENT. Fluent will calcaulate both volumes simultaneously.
FYI, this method of analysis is called the conjugate heat transfer analysis. You can google the term up if you want. Hope that helps. |
