Yes you have to launch fluent by dos(if you have windows) with the command "fluent -t2 &".

hi, thanks for the advice but let me understand better... 1)from dos I have to arrive in the directory of fluent and write: fluent -t2 & 2)why do you say "if" i have windows? I have a macbook pro with windows installed only to run fluent. Don't you want to teel me that I can run fluent also with mac, do you?

Yes, you have to arrive in the directory where you have the fluent executable file (typically Fluent.Inc\ntbin\ntx86) and type "fluent -t(Number of Cores) &" (i.e. fluent -t2 &). I don't know if you can run fluent on mac, but I run it on linux and it's better.
Good Luck with parallelization!!! |

sorry mike, but when I launch fluent un the way you explained, it cannot read either the cas file, either the mesh file.
it gives me the following several time: version> C:\Documents and Settings\cescosky\My Documents\universita esi francesco umerico\0018\rotanti\SM ondo totale\mesh stretta ondostretto2proc.cas: 2ddp (2d double precision) #f and I cannot do anything...check the grid, initialize, solve...anything. |

try a shorter root for the case and data files. i.e. save them e.g. in e:\????.cas etc. Fluent sometimes has problems with long adresses for the files. another thing is, if your case and data are for dp mode, run the fluent in the same mode. good luck

ok. the problem was to set the correct operating mode, menu\file\run..\2ddp. Thanks for the help but now it works on the two cores using half power of both. Instead of using 100% of one core it uses 50% of both. the result is the same. How can I do to make it works with the full power?
