Dear Sir

How can make a simulation for ship rolling motion in Fluent? Please I need a help in this topic, and is there any material that can be useful in this affair. Additionally, how can I get the value of added moment and the values of other coefficients, such as the damping and restoring moment coefficients?

Thank in advance

Vu Thuan

I suggest you using STAR-CCM+ for these reasons. It has implemented modile for such kind of problems. For more details see:

Hi

I had to simulate a roll decay test last year, and found the "Solving a 2D Box Falling into Water" tutorial very useful. The tutorial is available from the Fluent User Services Center. As I was interested in the roll damping coefficient, I simulated a roll decay test and used standard experimental roll decay testing procedures to extract the required coefficients.

I hope this helps.

Regards, Imraan

Hi Imraan Parker,

Thank you for your suggestion. I also thought as you so that I tried to simulate the motions of a 2D box falling into water but I did not know that there is a tutorial about this from Fluent User Services Center because I had tried to register to use this site but not completed yet. So could you please to send me this tutorial and related files?

Regards, Looking for your replying.
