try using older version 2.3 instead which seems more stable

You can export the geometry as an Acis file but without the mesh. File / export / ACIS The only thing is that you have to take care of the ACIS Version. In Gambit 2.4 its R16. I dont know what Gambit 2.3 can Import but its possible that you have to reduce the Version by clicking on R16. Gambit 2.3 will tell you which is possible when you import the file again. If it still does not work maybe there is a problem with your geometry and you have to built it up again. hope that helps. Gernot

Looks like you are getting lots of good advice. Our experience is that V2.4 of Gambit is just as stable as V2.3 and in some cases can grid geometries that 2.3 could not.
The fatal error in various forms is not unusual. Older versions could be expected to crash with every 4 to 5 hours of use, usually just before you saved the job. Some times, just getting back in (after deleting the *.lok file) and redoing the command would solve the problem. Do you always get the fatal operation at the same point in your Gambit session? Why can't you save the file - because Gambit has already crashed? Not sure what type of system you have, but in Windows it is an easy matter to see how much RAM is being used by Gambit and how much of your 2 Meg is available. Must be something similar in Linux. |

for export it must be real first and not virtual. Otherwise delete virtual first the export real but all meshing will be lost to do this.
