Hi there,

I want to simulate the airflow through a fence with a certain porosity, but I want to avaoid constructing it with gambit, because it is very difficlut to get a good quality mesh. Is there some kind of option, so that I can use a line instead and just give thise line the property of beeing this line with the porosity or maximum flow rate through it?

THX in advance,

Andreas

set up the grid in gambit with the fence as an interior zone (facial interior as a connected but shared face). Then change the zone type in fluent to porous jump using the define>bc panel. Then set your loss coefficients. If 3d fx are important then use porous media instead.

hi and thx for your help. I tried to build the model according to your tips, if I understood them right.

horn.hdtvtotal.com/download/poroustest.zip is that right in concept?(it just a quick test to have a qick result before doing the right model)

do I really have to do 2 seperated faces/areas like shown?

greets, Andreas
