Gambit and Fluent license error message

Hello forum users,
I've recently installed Gambit 2.4.6 and Fluent 6.3.26 on my laptop (Windows vista) which I use for my research at university. The license file I use is the same as the one used by all computers of the university. Now until friday, things were going well. Yesterday, I tried to open fluent and I got the error message below. Same for Gambit. I checked with the IT dept and the license file was correct. So far no one has been able to help me so is there anyone who's been through the same problem? I'm using a wireless connection, could that be the reason why it doesn't work? There were some trouble with internet over the week-end on the campus, and since yesterday I connect automatically on the second that the uni holds (not the one I set the programs with). Could that be a reason? Many thanks. Dimitris Loading "C:\Fluent.Inc\fluent6.3.26\lib\fl_s1119.dmp" Done. Cannot connect to license server The server (lmgrd) has not been started yet, or the wrong port@host or license file is being used, or the port or hostname in the license file has been changed. Feature: fluent Server name: its-labs3.ds.strath.ac.uk License path: C:\Fluent.Inc\license tx86\..\license.dat FLEXlm error: -15,10. System Error: 10061 "WinSock: Connection refused" For further information, refer to the FLEXlm End User Manual, available at "www.macrovision.com". |

Firstly Fluent and Gambit not supported on Vista. Secondly yes the network card is addressed by the license file so it looks for this. Using a wireless card the MAC address cannot be found so it errors with cannot find license key.

No.. Fluent and Gambit runs fine on Vista and I am using it on my desktop with Vista. The network wireless connection might be the problem.

Thanks for your responses so far. I'll try to modify the network connection and hopefully using Ethernet cable instead of wireless.
I didn't have any major issues concerning Gambit/Fluent with Vista, everything was in working order until this connection problem. |

You are right that this is a mac address issue called in the license file. I just wanted to point out that vista is not supported on Fluent or gambit currently so this may be the source of problems in future.

I think you are telling about ansys 12 installation. My license folder is located inside Fluent.Inc folder. Inside license folder I couldn't locate ansyslmd.ini.. What License server name should I give when I run client license setup?
