Hi everyone,

I modelled a Francis turbine(hydro turbine). I divided the turbine into 4 volumes i.e casing, guide vanes, runner and draft tube. Out of these 4 only runner is rotating parts (which is to be solved in Multiple rotating reference frame)and other are stationary.

The meshing details for different parts is as under. Part Size Type Casing 32 Tet/Hybrid, T-Grid Guide vanes 32 Tet/Hybrid, T-Grid Runner 20 Tet/Hybrid, T-Grid Draft tube 50 Hex/wedge, cooper

Now the question is, between adjascent parts when to use interior BC and when to use interface BC?

Please...Please...

reply as early as possible.

Thanks in advance.

Hi

When using the sliding mesh technique, the "interface" BC automatically becomes an interior when it is within the flow domain and changes into a wall when it is at the outer edge of the domain. So you should consider using the interface BC.

Please let me know if this works fine with you! Regards

AAA, Thanks for so quick reply.

Actualu in my case, i am using Multiple Rotating Reference Frame(MRF) for rotating component i.e. Runner.

So, between stationary and rotating part shall I use interior or interface BC?, keeping in mind that the mesh size for stationary part and rotating part is different?

Regards
