Dear Friends,

Does anybody know from where I can get educational version of Gambit and Fluent to download for free or at the minimal cost because I just need to create simple geomtry and to import it to another CFD software.

Thank you.

Prudhvi,

Both these pieces of software are commercially produced by Ansys. Companies, Academic Institutions and Governments all pay many thousands of dollars to license this software for use. You can contact Ansys and get a quote to purchase a license for one or more of their products.

If you are looking for a free alternative, try OpenFOAM. There is quite a large userbase, and a very active community on this forum.

Hi, I'd like to recover this post. I know ANSYS absorbed the majority of commercial CFD-related software, but I'd like to know if anyone knows if it is still possible to get GAMBIT software (maybe from some unofficial site?)

Thanks in advance

GAMBIT is a piece of garbage software compared to what is available today. Just use something else. ICEM (also part of Ansys) does everything GAMBIT used to do anyway. GAMBIT has been defunct almost a decade. There's no reason to be digging up this dead software.

The thing that ICEM does not have is the GAMBIT neutral format to export the grid (I know it has patran neutral file format) but I have already developed (from a long time ago) several useful tools compatible with my codes

I am wondering if Gambit is free now or still need to pay for a licence?

Thanks!

I found GAMBIT is easy to use for meshing purpose.

MS-DOS is pretty easy to use as well. Way before I was born but historical anecdotes say the abaqus also made it really easy for people to do arithmetic.
