I AM A STUDENT OF BUET(BANGLADESH UNIVERSITY OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY), OF MECHANICAL DEPT.
I AM WORKING ON THE SPACE SHUTTLE REENTRY PHENOMENON USING CFD , FOR MY UNDER-GRADUATE COURSE. I WILL USE A 3-D MODEL OF SPACE SHUTTLE COLUMBIA & STUDY THE FOLLOWING- 1)HIGH VELOCITY FLUID FLOW 2)TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION & HEAT TRANSFER 3)EFFECT OF BROKEN TILE DURING REENTRY I NEED SOME DOCUMENTATION , PREVIOS WORK , DATA ON THIS TOPICS.SO THAT I CAN MY WORK. I AM REQUESTING ALL CONCERNED PEOPLE TO SEND ME ANY LINK, OR ANY SOURCE FROM WHICH I CAN GET IT. ITS URGENT. EMAIL ADDRESS : tamjid208@yahoo.com |

I do not have any info about your project but i would like to give you an advice. I think you are trying to bite off more than you would ever be able to chew for an undergraduate project. You want to run 3D simulation of space shuttle re-entery phenomenon which is extremely complicated issue. You should first consider following points before you can take up on this project.
1. Do you have computer resource to run this problem. You will have to generate million of cells for your grid. Are you gone run it on parallel. 2. How would you validate your results 3. What type of computer modelling you are considering to do. Traditional RANS modelling is bound to give poor predicitions in your case. 4. How would you set up your boundary conditions and what would be the size of your domain. Once you have looked into these issues you may re-consider your choice for an undergraduate project. I hope i am not too discouraging. Regards Jiju |

I think you are over ambitious, this type of project would take a year for a team of highly experienced CFD experts, and you propose to do this as an undergraduate project? Nothings impossible I say, but the issue of computer resources as noted by the above poster would be your main limitation assuming you have the knowledge required to carry this project out to the end.
