Default FLUENT versions ...

Hello All,

I am having a very peculiar problem. I am running a 3D moving reference frame problem. When I run it on a 32 bit machine using FLUENT 6.2 version, it converges pretty well. When I try to run it on a 64 bit machine either on FLUENT 6.2 or FLUENT 6.3, it diverges drastically. I also get the divergence on the 32 bit machine using FLUENT 6.3 version.

Can anyone please help me in this regard. What is the difference between a 32 bit and 64 bit problem and is there a change in the way rototation is catered in FLUENT 6.3 compared to FLUENT 6.2. Also when I use parallel processers, do the number of processers have an effect on convergence or it the effectc only confined to computational time...

Thanks a lot in advance....

Cheers,

Gautam...

Hi Gautam,

I am sure that there will not be any difference in running a case on 32 and 64 bit machine. I am very much confident on that.

There may be difference between two versions. Because new feature may be added in the new versions. So refer the user manual.

bye, Sujay S

Thanks for your time Sujay. In theory I completely agree with whatever you have said. But peculiarly, the problem I am facing is when I run the VERY SAME case and data on a 32 bit and 64 bit machine , I am getting different results. But one point I forgot to mention before was that; I have set up the case in a 32 bit FLUENT before running it on 64 bit. Do you think that could be one of the reasons.

cheers,

Gautam.

There should not be any change in solution if u run in 32 or 64 bit machine. I ill try a simple case for u tomo as u said then i ill check and tell u
