how to open gambit and fluent in ubnutu

Hi, I am having ubnutu. We have gambit and fluent in the central computing facility. We used to open them using exceed in windows. Now i would like to know how to open then in ubnutu. I am getting the following error.
"unable to open display" Canany body help me out. Thandavan |

Set the DISPLAY environment variable correctly ... ask your local linux system admin to assist.

Do you log in into another computer? Do you do this then via telnet or ssh?
Try ssh -X [host]. Big X pls, then I think you can start your software, without any problems. Good luck, MA |

Hi I tried , ssh -X still i am getting the same error.
I set env variable as export DISPLAY=10.93.202.52:0.0 is this correct. Thanks Thandavan |

Are you sure, that you used an upper-case X?
check the man-page for ssh: man ssh Then you needn't set the env variable any more. But maybe the ssh-server is not configured for this. Anyway, there is no mistake to set the variable, I guess, and the way you do it, is correct. But be sure, that the IP-Ad you type in is that of your own computer, and not the host's. To find out your own IP (on your computer): /sbin/ifconfig to find out your screen-id (on your own computer): echo $DISPLAY this should be working then. Good luck! MAAAA |

Try this in a terminal:
fluent 2ddp -driver x11 or gambit -driver x11 |

Hi,
I tried as u said. I read SSH man. it was said that one should not set the display variable. I did not set it then. I used upper case X. Still it is saying "Unable to open display" Please help me. Thank you |
