How to adapt lower phase in 3 D pipe flow

I have a 3 D pipe geometry I need water flow in the lower half part of the pipe and air the upper. I think here I need to adapt the water but I am really not know which type of adapt options should I use for this : Hex or sphere or cylinder and what input coordinates should I choose?

you mean marking a cell zone for initialisation right or adapting the liquid phase only. use a box with the upper surface at the free surface. the box can go right through into the void and youre just using a surface of the box. Or mark cells by volume fraction then adapt the marked region.

Thanks to the reply. Yes I need to mark a cell zone for initilization with different velocity and different phase too. What box at the upper surface you mean? Can you illustrate your answer with clear steps please?
