Can anyone tell me how can I view a mesh file (*.msh) into Gambit ? I have available mesh file from a tutorial I need to open it with Gambit to see how the author draw the mesh but I don not know how?

hi you can not open a (mesh file ) in Gambit , the extensions that Gambit can view is:

1-(filename.dbs) to view the figure in gambit and specify intail boundry condittions

2-(filename.jou) to view the journal of the gambit

while (filename.msh) can open by fluent and yoy can display the figure and change intial boundry condittions you make in gambit.

I think, that U can import *.msh file into gambit by clicking on: file -> import -> mesh -> choose Fluent 5/6 -> Browse -> load Your file *.msh milano

Thanks milano to the answer I follow your idea but i have the following error when i try open the mesh file please te\see it: Error: Error encountred while reading the header information. Gambit is unable to import C:\documents & setings\pipe.mesh

what the reson please ?

That's hard to say, I don't know the software U used for the *.mesh cration. I used Gambit to crate the mesh file and maybe that's reason that it worked in my case. Check the heading of the file, if there is not any bug. Sorry. Or if U can load the file in Fluent, save it again in fluent (use another name) and try to repeat the first idea (gambit -> file -> ....) Milano

dear milano fluent save it as *.cas file only and this cannot be opened in Gambit as you know can you tell me how can i save it as *.msh in Fluent? This mesh file actually I downloaded it from fluent site for a tutorial 3 dimnesional so even me not know which software be used to draw it?

dear Dr. flow squad actually I am not write the directory names when i open the mesh file I use browse then choose the directory.

I meant move the files to a directory without spacing and open it from there. Like C:\CFD\mymesh.msh.
