hi,
I want to simulate circular and rectangular duct in 2D. In 2D both duct looks like a same. So, my question is: is there any different way to simulate 2D circular than 2D rectangular duct. And another question is that when we simulate circular and rectangular duct in 2D, does it give same result? thanks in advance |

hi,
for circular duct just draw a rectangle with its heigt is the radius and do 2D-axisymmetric calculation i hope this useful khairy |

yes that is right. but during experimentation on circular duct and rectangular duct both will give different result right! so to generate the same with 2D geometry what is the provision. according to ur suggestion will it take care of boundary layer growth? because that only affect the velocity profile

why you need to obtain the same result from diiferent cases rectangular duct :2 D flow circular duct :axisymmetric
i think you need to refer to a fluid mechanics textbook e.g. white viscous flow or any other book on Navier-Stokes equations which will give the two mentioned cases Khairy |

my question is: to differentiate 2D rectangular duct from 2D circular duct, the option available in fluent in solver panel i.e. only 2D space and axisymmetric space. is this only? During solid model generation both 2d rectangular duct and 2d circular duct have same procedure means in that we can not differentiate between two.
thanks for your kind cooperation |
