Hi can anyone help me? When we mesh edges, why do we always choose "succesive ratio" for type? What does this mean. And how do we determine the value for succesive ratio?

Also, how do we determine what type of "spacing" to choose. and how do we determine this value?

Sorry for asking such a fundamental question. I am a new user. Thanks for your time.
