Does anyone have any experience converting CFX files to Fluent files using the utility tool: "fe2ram"
I have tried to convert .geo, .def, and .res files without any luck so far, and would appreciate some hints to get the utility running. Fluent 6.3 also have an import filter for CFX files, but using that has also been unsuccesful Martin |

I believe the 'fe2ram' utility is used to convert mesh from ANSYS FEA (finite element analysis) solver. I suspect that any ANSYS options in Fluent right now is not for ANSYS CFX.

Fluent 6.3 has an option, which allows import of CFX files i.e. .def and .res files from 3D geometries.
I have tried to import files from CFX 5.7 and 10.0, but neither seem to work. |

Hi Martin,
If you have a CFX installation, use the export utility in the CFX Solver Manager to export your .def or .res file to CGNS (or another neutral format). You should have no difficulty reading this into Fluent. This should work without a license, so all you need is an installation. If you have ICEM CFD, you could also read the .def or .res file into the ICEM CFD Mesh Editor (MED) and export it to Fluent. Regards, Robin |
