Default FDS vs Fluent, what's the difference on LES?

Hi,

Many people from both academic and industrial sides, are using free NIST FDS software (http://www.fire.nist.gov/fds/) for all kinds of CFD applications.

What's the fundamental difference on implementing LES on FDS and Fluent? Why people can use very coarse mesh in FDS, while Fluent recommends very dense mesh for LES?

Thank you.

Jim
