Default why in the les calculation, need turbul intensity?

why in the les calculation, need turbulence intensity defined in velosity inlet?? Who know what's the use.

But in postprocess, to list the turbulent vector, there is not the turbulence intensity, it is surprise! only have turbulent kinetic energy, viscosity, ...
