hi

while running a FLUENT simulation i am getting the following message: Turbulent viscosity is limited to viscosity ratio of XXXXXX in XX(say 79) cells. And this number is decreasing as the iterations are going forward. what would be the problem.

thanks in advance

If the number of the cells are decreasing and the warning disappears it should be no problem. Maybe your initial - conditions were not set good.

thanks for the response.

the warning diminishes as the iteration no. increases, but after some time it reappears with the TURBULENCE VISCOSITY is limited to VISCOSITY RATIO 1.0e+05 in 1 cell. Can this be negligible.

thanks in advance

using adaptive meshing divide that cell

Go to adaption and mark the cell which is having the high tu viscosity and click adapt. It will ask for hanging node adaption. Click ok and the cell will be divided into 8 in 3d and 4 in 2d. Run for few more iterations and see whether the messages vanish. Generally this happens in regions of high gradient where you have sufficiently large cells which cannot capture the gradient properly. Using adaptive mesh refinements helps in reducing the mesh size in regions of interest. You can look up for the same in the help also.

thanks in advance
