Hi, Can someone tell me how merge 2 volumes such that Vol.1 is inside vol.2 and the resulting vol. would seem to be having a void area in the shape of vol.1. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Regards.

you can use Substract (volume 2 substract volume1) if you want volume 1 to be a empty hole in volume 2.
or you can use split (volume 2 split with volume 1) if you want volume 1 maintain in volume 2. hope that help. |

Hi, Thnx for ur advice. I already tried doing that, but when I mesh the resulting volume, Gambit is meshing the void as well, which I don't want. I want the void to remain empty when I mesh the resulting vol. Any help would be great!! Thnx, regards.

Hi,
If it's meshing the void as well it means that when you performed the subtraction the void volume was not deleted. Just select it and delete, then remesh. When you subtract the volume to create a void make sure the 'retain' button isn't on for either the outside or inside (subtract) volumes, this tells Gambit whether or not to keep the original volumes, if both of these are left on you'll end up with three volumes. Hope this helps Steve |

I would prefer to split vol2 with vol1 rather that to subtract it.
it is impossible to mesh a volume that has a void in it, using a hex type meshing. ( cooper theme ) You can try to split again the resulting volume with several faces in order to make new non void volumes then you can mesh them one by one. those faces will be easily conditioned using "INTERIOR" set as the boundary condition. This setting can be done if you have only 1 face used together by each 2 adjacent volumes. Good Luck Bagus Putra Muljadi |
