Hi Guys! we're waiting for our new 64 bit machine to arrive. Up to now we've used only 32 bit machines. Do we need a specific 64-bit release of Fluent or we can simply install what we have. Thanks for your attention.

You can (may not be true for all OS's) install the 32-bit version on a 64-bit machine but then your new machine will run in "32-bit mode". If it is a Window-box you have no choice, since there is no 64-bit windows-version of Fluent yet.

As already mentioned, you can use the 32bit version, but it will be approx. 25% slower than the 64bit code.

This moment I'm running Fluent on 64bit AMD Dual-Core CPU workstation. My suggestions are:

- you should use 64 bit version of Fluent; - you should use 64 bit version of Linux. - RedHat, Suse, Fedora do not work with Fluent; - the best results I've got were with new Mandriva Linux.

>>> RedHat, Suse, Fedora do not work with Fluent;

We tested all 3 of them - experienced no problems, Fluent runs well! (at the moment we are using Debian)

I have mentioned what CPU's I'm using. Please, check if you have exactly the same CPU.

wait wait So is ther a 64 bit Fluent?? I `ve heard that version 6.3 will be a 64bit but ...let say Fluent 6.2.16 is 32 bit. Am I right?? Win XP 64 bit (that`s what i am using ) will allow you to extand your RAM memory to 4 GB. Under 32bit u can use 2GB.

There _will_ be a 64bit _windows_ version; but the 64bit linux version already exists for 6.2.16.
