Default saving data along a line

I want to save data at some discrete points along a line in the domain. I had an idea of defining a surface line and save those data along that. The problem is then that one can only save some avarage, max, min, etc. and not every single value at every single point. Is there a smarter way to do this, than to define every single monitoring surface point?

you can still save any values you want when you define a line via surface. after you define your line, go into file>export choose your file type, select whatever you named you line from the surfaces menu and then select the value that you want. I export temperature and velocity data into an ascii file which gives every point along that defined line with the values that i ask for. Then I usually bring it in to matlab to process my data.

hope thats what you were looking for.

Thanks a lot, but I'd like to save automatically at certain times during computations. Is that also possible?
