hi there, i got a problem modelling a symmetric device. i have to simulate a cubic model in 3d (in there there are flow channels etc, but thats not necessary for my question)to make it easier i modeled only a quarter of the cube in gambit. than i defined two of the outer surfaces (consisting of several faces) as "symmetrie" in gambit, the others as walls /inlet/outlet. i expected fluent to calculate the model as the full cube, because of the two symmetrie planes. but fluent automatically changes all faces of the one outer surface from symmetrie to wall. so it only mirrors my model into one direction, not two. if i manually rechange these walls two symmetry, fluent automatically changes the other symmetry faces to walls. can somebody tell me how fluent recognizes both symmetry planes? thank you in advance

That's weird!
Fluent is perfectly able to calculate using multiple symmetry planes. So something else is going on. Can you give us some more clues. Can you send me a stripped down Gambit file? cheers, Laika, sill orbiting |
