3d mesh of bluff body for LES

I'm trying to perform flow analysis around a 3-d bluff body, a brick, and then perform a large eddy simulation (LES). I assume that i need a domain as well, (please tell me if i'm correct) for which i need to create a mesh. I meshed both volumes with a hex map mesh, however, i am not sure if that is appropriate for a LES. I am also not sure what boundary conditions to apply, especially for the brick within the domain. Whenever i attempt a simulation, it seems that the brick itself, not the domain, seems to have no effect on the flow and fluent seems to ignore it. Perhaps my meshing is wrong or boundary conditions. Please, if you have any advice, I would love to hear it. Thank You.

Did you define conditions for the flow and solid part? If your brick is defined as a fluid, you may have a flow inside the bluff body.

i did specify the actual brick as solid and domain as fluid. However, do i need additional specifications for boundary conditions on the inner brick?

If you defined wall boundaries for the surfaces of your brick (I'm sure you did), please send your case and data files to me.
Before that, please visualize your grids (of brick, walls, inlet, outlet, etc) to verify you used right boundary conditions. |
