Default Laminar To Turbulent

Hi Again,

Is it possible to use low Re k-e model to model laminar to turbulent transition of fluid flow? that is, the flow initially started as laminar at inlet & then somewhere in the domain, it became tubulent.

Any advice is highly appreciated.

Swarup.

In my experience RNG in Fluent is the best; you may want to use SST that CFX recommends. but neither of them is accurate if the fluid is in its SCNB/Film boiling state, I mean the results!

In short, no you cannot. The low Re k-e model is still a turbulent model, but more accurate at the low end of the turbulent range. The transitional k-w model will do OK for part of the transition region, but will not go down into laminar.
