Hi all: I want to simulate a model racing car with Fluent 6.2.16. The model is around 1,5 meters long, 60 cm in width and 15 or 20 cm in height. Can I do the model and mesh it in Catia V5 and then import mesh to Fluent? What are the computer minimun requirements to make this simulation well? Thanks in advance. Best regards:

Hi, There is no correlation or computer criteria, about the geometry. But the mesh size matters in terms of the hardware requirement. I think you need to go for Gambit (not sure about CATIA mesher) for meshing and if the geometry is too criticle you need to go for meshers like ICEMCFD or ANSA, but with Gambit it is quite possible

Hi Sachin: Thank you for your answer. I´m going to do it with Gambit. Regards:

Hi, Edu. i'm interested on what u want to simulate. but i can't imagine the shape of the car u want to simulate. with 15-20 cm in height, is it proportional dimension? what kind of car u want to simulate? if u're willing, would u send me the picture of the car u want to simulate? thanks before. |

hi, sachin. i want to mesh my car body design by using Ansys 11. but i drew it by using 3Ds Max before. i've tried to export it to be extended by *.dwg (AutoCAD type file) in order to be easier if i want to export it to be extended by *.sat (Acis file type). after i got the *.sat file type, i opened it by using ICEM CFD in order to mesh it but it didn't work well. the software told me that it can't mesh something in the form of surface. the shape should be massive. so how can i mesh it? thanks before.

From my experience, running your case in a k-epsilon turbulence model, you´ll need 1kb of RAM memory per node to run smootlhy.
If the geometry is too complex, and too many nodes are needed, consider using a cluster. Regards. |
