Hi guys,
I have two Gambit meshes, and I want to import them into a third global gambit mesh. How do I do this? I tried to "export mesh" and then "import mesh" again, but that did not work - how do I load a new case without loosing the old one? Thanks, -Riaan |

Hi Riaan You can use tmerge utility in Fluent , a text command, to merge the two meshes. In Fluent manual you can find about this command. Otherwise, if you have Tgrid you can read the two meshes and then write the global mesh. To my knowledge, it is not possible to merge meshes in Gambit. Hope that can help you. Do not hisitate to ask about the details if you can not find the subject in the manual.

I have Tgrid, but when I read a new case, it just overwrites the old one? I will look into the tmerge command.
Thanks |

In Tgrid you select both meshes in the read mesh windows. Do not read one and after reading it read the 2nd. Hope that work.

Hi,
I was using the import function in gambit to import a CAD file (.sat format). Now when I have the first geometry imported, and import then a second one, it will be added in the first session. So maybe you have to export your meshed geometry in a different kind of file?? And import it again... Ralf |

i have been using gambit to read multiple meshes for a long time. You just go to import and import them, gambit does not delete the old mesh, it just keep on adding the meshes. I always create meshes in parts, some times even 5 or 6 parts, then finally i read all of them one by one into gambit , then assign relevant boundary conditions and export then to be used with fluent. I think the problem that you are facing is, when you want to import *.msh gambit try to search *.cas, this can be fixed by replacing *.cas by *.msh at the top of the dialog. Please check again. it does work fine with gambit.
